What is HIFU Treatment?
HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’, this treatment can target various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. Entirely non-invasive, HIFU works by targeting deep layers in the skin – it boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source. It is sometime called the ‘Lunchtime Face Lift’ as the treatment is quick, very tolerable and has no downtime.
What is HIFU treatment for face?
HIFU treatment for the face works as a non-invasive facelift. It tightens the skin, irons out wrinkles, shrinks pores, targets the ‘V’ line formation and Jowell lines. HIFU improves overall skin tone, pores, brightness and elasticity.
HIFU machine targets the upper dermis 1.5mm, lower dermis 3.00mm and most importantly the SMAS at 4.5mm. The SMAS is the layer that sits between your muscle and your fat layer. This SMAS layer is the actual area a plastic surgeon would pull and tighten under a surgical operation using a knife. HIFU targets this layer without any surgical incisions, giving the patient a no-downtime facelift. Which means you can gain excellent results without any risks associated with surgery, such as infection, scarring, swelling etc. Treatments are fast and results can be seen immediately for some patients, depending on the level of laxity your skin has.
HIFU treatment is known as the ‘lunch time face lift’ as it’s quick and you can return to work and continue with your day. Some people may have some mild redness and maybe light bruising the next day.
What is HIFU treatment for body contouring?
HIFU 8mm and 13mm cartridges are used for the body, here HIFU energy is used to target the fat layer and destroy fat cells. Does HIFU Treatments hurt?
Our HIFU device offers faster shot speeds and shorter intervals between each shot, this means it’s more comfortable and less painful than many other HIFU treatments on the market. Some people describe it as feeling like tiny electric pulses, or a prickly sensation. It’s not pain free but it’s completely tolerable and it may feel different on different areas of your face or body.
Can HIFU replace a face lift?
HIFU is an “uplift” not a “face lift.” While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a face lift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How long does the HIFU treatment take?
A full face treatment takes 45-60 minutes, and a partial face or brow lift treatment can take around 30 minutes—neither with any downtime.
Is there any downtime?
HIFU is an entirely non-invasive procedure and as such, there is no downtime. You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take.
Who is a good candidate for HIFU?
A good candidate for HIFU is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.
While HIFU is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. There are also younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How long until I see results?
Patients may enjoy some initial effect but the ultimate lifting and toning will take place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. As this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can appear up to 6 months following a procedure.
How long do results last?
Patients treated with HIFU still have fresh young collagen after a year time following the procedure and can continue for up to another year depending on the condition of the skin. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.
Will I need more than one treatment?
The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on how much laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and collagen- building process).
Are there any side effects?
There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of clients may have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. The feeling of a muscle workout soreness is common but relieves itself quickly.
