How Does Dermaplaning Work?
During this treatment, your provider will manually remove the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. Dermaplaning also removes the peach fuzz on your skin that is responsible for holding on to extra oil and dirt that can lead to skin problems.
Don’t worry! The hair won’t grow back thicker or darker!
What to expect?
You don’t need to plan any downtime to recover from a Dermaplaning treatment. You may experience redness or feel like your skin is scraped in the two or three days right after the procedure.
You may notice that your skin looks brighter immediately after you’re finished with a Dermaplaning treatment, but it often takes a few days to appreciate the full results. As any redness subsides, you’ll be able to see the results more clearly in the days afterward.
Results of Dermaplaning aren’t permanent. The procedure claims to clear away up to three weeks worth of dead skin cells. After three weeks to a month, your results will have faded.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
Unlike threading, waxing or laser. Dermaplanomg is pain-free. You may experience a tingling or tightening sensation, similar to that of regular shaving, but no pain.
Will dermaplaning make hair grow back thicker?
Hair growing back thicker after shaving is one of the oldest beauty myths there is. While it may appear that way, the prickly unwanted guests are just growing back blunt-ended. This gives them a coarse texture, but rest assured, they aren't actually any thicker or darker than they were originally. In the same way, shaving your face will not stimulate more hair growth so you have nothing to fear from the treatment and the growth cycle of your hair will remain the same regardless.
Am I good candidate for Derma planing?
Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and it helps to minimise superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for more mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age.
As no chemicals are used it can be good for those that are allergic or sensitive to peels.
After Dermaplaning Treatment
After a dermaplaning treatment, you’ll need to be extra careful about sun exposure. Sun damage could reverse the effects of dermaplaning, or create pigment blotches on your freshly uncovered skin cells. In the weeks after a dermaplaning treatment, don’t leave the house without wearing sunscreen on your face.
Your skin might feel tender and redness. This will heal within 24 hours after treatment. Be gentle with your skin after treatment and avoid putting on makeup right after treatment and allow your skin to heal naturally.
For 72 hours avoid harsh products, exfoliating creams & aggressive scrubbing as this may cause irritation ( AHA, BHA, Vitamin A & C type of products etc). Try to use only mineral based makeup for 48hrs after treatment.
Do not book laser or hair removal treatments on any part of your face for 7 days after treatment.
